About Health Net
Health Net Inc. started in 1985 and is now one of the largest health insurance companies in the nation providing insurance coverage to millions of Americans. Its headquarters is located in Woodland Hills, California. For over 27 years, the company has lived up to its mission of ensuring that its members stay healthy, secure and comfortable.
Health Net received an “Excellent” rating on their Commercial and Medicare Advantage plans from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
The A.M. Best Company rated Health Net a “B++” (Good) rating which indicates stable and secure financial strength.
HSA for America is an independent, authorized Health Net Inc. agent.
With Health Net’s extensive provider list, you will surely have convenient access to doctors and hospitals in your area. Health Net members have access to more than 54,000 in-network doctors, over 300 hospitals and 4,300 affiliated pharmacies. You can use their Provider Search to quickly find a list of hospitals and doctors nearest you.
It will normally take two to four weeks for Health Net to finish processing your application. If this is your first time applying for coverage, make sure you apply at least a month before your planned effective date of coverage. If you have a pre-existing condition, you might have to wait longer than four weeks because of the health records and tests that the company will ask from you. There are indefinite and temporary riders that you can get if you want to waive a number of medical conditions.
Once Health Net has finished reviewing your application, your coverage can immediately begin the following day. If you want to select your coverage effective date, you have two dates to choose from: the 1st or the 15th of the month. Take note that you will be billed starting on the effective date of coverage that you requested. This option is good for those who do not have a policy yet.
However, if you currently have a health care policy, you better wait for the confirmation letter from either Health Net or HSA for America that states your coverage is in place. Once you are sure that your new health insurance plan is in effect, you can cancel your old policy.
Administering your HSA
Your health insurance plan is separate from your HSA. You will have to get an HSA Administrator (any approved trustee or bank) to set up your Health Savings Account. Go to our HSA Administrator page to get the list of banks and trustees that are allowed to administer Health Savings Accounts. There you can make a side-by-side comparison of the fees and features of each administrator.
